We Find Ourselves Again

Dear Friends,
We find ourselves again .....
Growth.
Job loss.
Change.
Our friendship keeps us whole.
We are there to catch one another when we stumble.
Our love of laughter reminds us that we are made to enjoy life, even though it is difficult at times.
In times of uncertainty, there is coffee.
Good food comforts.
Friendship soothes.
We find ourselves again .....

XOXO,
Joey and Wendy

Is It Really You?!

Hello, dear friends!
Like the best of all friendships, it doesn't matter how much time has passed, just that we are catching up on old times now and it seems like just yesterday when ....
It has been a summer of difficult decisions, job changes and growth. Because Joey and I have the best of friendships, we remain steadfast. We share coffee, laughter and conversation; not daily. But when we see each other and catch up, well, it seems just like yesterday.
We renew our commitment to you, our friends, to bring you our news of coffee shops, daily life and quirky things that make us giggle, laugh and set sail once again!!
Isn't he much too beautiful to be so sad?!? My BFF and my beautiful loverlies went to Yellow Springs, OH this weekend. My favorite place in the world is the 400+-acre sunflower field.

The sunflower is the most beautiful flower. Ever. Hands down. The rose has nothin' on this lovely!

Hello again, dear friend!! It's so good to be back!! Join us for some coffee or tea?!
XOXO,
Wendy

True West Coffee
oh happy day!

A morning adventure for the best.bacon.ever at Allen's Market in Hamilton led us here. As promised in their logo, Oh happy day indeed!  True West Coffee has two locations in Hamilton; a shop in the business district of downtown Hamilton as well as a coffee house deeper into downtown.  We went to the coffee house.

Eclectic and wonderful, there are fabric banners streaming from the ceiling, brightly painted walls, excellent indie artwork and great seating!  Huge tables for large parties or smaller tables for more intimate chatter.
Also . . .

A yellow leather couch in front of a fireplace, next to a shelf full of books and games!!!  Heavenly, if I do say so myself!!
We ordered our coffees (Joey had an Americano; I had a dirty Chai) and I ordered food from this awesome sauce menu:

(Before I go any farther in my musings of True West Coffee, let me stop right here and explain a few things.  While I do love-love-love a great coffee or tea, for me, it is all about the experience and the atmosphere.  Joey and I have been to many coffee tastings and know our fair share of pour-over methods and coffee brew times.  We've had roasted coffee so freshly roasted, it was roasted the same day we drank it and we've had coffee so old we drank it anyway . . . . . . . . . believe me, we know coffee.  If you want and/or expect the technicalities of this coffee experience, you won't get that from my postings!!!  I'm seriously alllllll about the quirky things that keep me amused daily!)
So, without further ado .....  I ordered the Chuck Norris. We took our drinks upstairs . . . .

..... and I waited for my sandwich.

Upstairs was loverly!!!  Beautiful sunshine pouring through the windows!  The handpainted floor invited me to walk over to the red velvet couch to drink my tea in laziness.  And I love the chandelier.  Do you see it?  There were several chandeliers, all of them different!!
We ultimately sat in a sunny window spot on yellow velvet chairs and my sandwich was brought to me on a real china plate!!  Joey and I shared the sandwich, because it was huge and because we, well, share our sandwiches with each other!!  Chuck Norris did not disappoint me.  The man and the sandwich.

We enjoyed the sunshine, the food, the coffee, the conversation.  It was really a very lovely place to spend an hour or so chatting with my bestest.

A bit of a drive because of the stop-and-go of downtown Hamilton traffic, and the parking is a bit crummy (although there IS parking in the back of the building; you have to finagle getting in and out), but it's sooooo worth going to . . . . . go and be kind to yourself: lay on a red velvet couch or a yellow leather couch, enjoy a cup of coffee and read a book for a few hours!

Penny Lane CoffeeHouse

So I had to travel to Evansville Indiana for work a couple weeks ago about 4 hours from home.  Not a bad drive over, but by the time I got there I was very hungry and in need of a good coffee.  I arrived at my work location very early (I always try my best to be early).  Well right next door was a small place called Spudz-N-Stuff, so I walked in and asked what they recommended.  I ended up on their recommendation a Buffalo Chicken Potato and adding bacon.  I will say it was very good and filling, not bad either since with a drink it only came to $9.13.  I know this isn't a coffee shop... what am I thinking, well at the end of my meal I asked if there were any good coffee places close by.  The response was from all three employees about 4 blocks down on the left was Penny Lane so off I go.

So instead of driving I figured whats four blocks... well it was more like eight but who is counting :)  it was nice out and I need the exercise.

I first see this and know I am getting close all looked good from the view I see here.

I opened the door of the older building and was pleased at how the layout looked very open and fun even.  I stood for a few minutes taking a couple of pictures then ordered my Cafe Breve which very good I might add.  I then chatted with the barista for a few minutes about the coffeehouse and Evansville area.  She was very informative about the area and we also discussed coffee for a while.  It wasn't long before I was done with my Breve and had to head to work, had to be onsite at 5pm to start work.

I so enjoyed the coffee that when I was done with work I drove back to the coffeehouse to pick up a smoothie for the road... again very good.  Here are a few pictures of the inside as well.  I am sure wendy will double check my spelling and grammar as she is the Legal Secretary :)

A start for a sooner

Eventually we want to open our own coffee Cafe, but until that day we will be happy and fun and write about every coffee house and cafe we can in the greater Cincinnati area and beyond if we are out of town.  Photos and reviews as well.

Don't get me wrong this blog isn't all about coffee, we plan to just enjoy life and post what we can when we can.  So you might see everything from my car broke down to where to get your motorcycle fixed to check out the New headbands that Wendy is selling on Etsy... we live life and love to enjoy and have fun.

If you get offended by anything we post we are sorry in advance, but we can't please everyone nor will we try.  We are all about customer service, but somethings just can't be helped and we sadly know we are not perfect nor claim to be perfect.  We may even misspell a word or two and may have punctuation errors, please do not take this as a reason to hate us or complain about us.

Sooner we shall be the talk of the town.
